Christian Him
Christian Him is a highly respected music photographer, who over the past 30 years has built up a library of images of jazz musicians that is hard to beat.
Born in Metz in the Lorraine region of France, Christian moved to London in 1972 and immediately took up membership of the world-famous Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in Soho, taking photographs of live performances by some of the greatest artists in the business. Christian set up Jazz Index in 1980 and has regularly submitted images to national newspapers, music magazines and advertising companies, as well as providing album cover photography for Cecil Taylor, Vaughan Hawthorne, Jack Bruce and John Stevens.
In 1991, Christian was nominated for a best photographer award at the prestigious Diamond Music Awards in Antwerp. He has been a member of the press photographer’s association since 1982 and is also a member of the British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies (BAPLA)
